GBuy heisst jetzt Checkout
Google macht aus Raider Twixx, und lässt seinen als GBuy bekannt gewordenen Bezahldienst nun unter dem Namen Google Checkout debutieren. Seit einigen Minuten sehe ich dort auch das Anmeldeformular. Obwohl ich dort auch »Germany« als Land auswählen kann, scheinen die Nutzungsbedingungen mich vom Gebrauch des Dienstes auszuschliessen:
[...] Payment Instrument: The credit card or debit card that is registered by a Customer with the Service to facilitate the processing of Payments Transactions. The Payment Instrument must be associated with a billing address in the United States.
[...]
By agreeing to this Terms of Service for Buyers, you represent that you are:* 18 years old or older;
* capable of entering into a legally binding agreement; and
* a resident of the United States. [...]
Tja, schade auch. Ich hätte den Dienst gerne getestet, aber die Staatsangehörigkeit werde ich nicht dafür wechseln. Merkwürdig, dass man mir überhaupt das Anmeldeformular vorsetzt, denn Google weiss schliesslich genau so gut wie ich, dass ich kein Amerikaner bin.
Update: Mein Kollege Sascha hat bei Google wegen der Länderproblematik nachgefragt, und folgende Antwort erhalten:

At this time, you must have a United States billing and shipping address
to use Google Checkout to purchase products as well as sell them through a
store. We apologize for any confusion the country list might have created.We look forward to offering more options in the near future.
